Alternative installation method

If you install plugins through your hosting file manager or FTP, you can also install CookieDaD manually.

Step 1: Extract the plugin file

Unzip the CookieDaD package on your computer.

Step 2: Upload the plugin folder

Upload the full CookieDaD folder to:

/wp-content/plugins/

Step 3: Activate it from WordPress

Go back to your WordPress dashboard, open Plugins, find CookieDaD, and click Activate.

How to confirm the plugin was installed correctly

CookieDaD is installed correctly if:

  • the plugin appears in your active plugins list
  • the Cookiedad menu is visible in the WordPress admin area
  • the plugin pages open without errors
  • you can access the main configuration sections

Common installation issues

The plugin does not upload

Make sure you are uploading the original .zip plugin file and not an extracted folder packed incorrectly.

The plugin does not appear after upload

Check that the plugin was activated successfully. If it was installed but not activated, it will remain in the installed plugins list.

You see a permission error

Your WordPress user role may not have permission to install plugins. Log in with an administrator account.

The plugin activates but the menu is missing

Refresh the dashboard and check again. If the problem continues, verify that no admin-access restrictions or role-based settings are hiding the menu.

Next step

After installation, the next recommended step is to open Cookiesdad and complete the basic setup, including banner configuration, cookie scanning, and policy generation.
